Dr.'s Orders - ALL GRAIN

DESCRIPTION

Doctor’s Orders, is a Uitzet style beer of historical significance.  Legend says it was invented in 1730 by a brewer Van Petegem in Wetteren on the Scheldt River. Years later in 1813, a Gent physician, Dr. P. E. Wauters claimed it was a healthy beer and should be preferred over other beer, wine, coffee, tea and even water!  Uitzet is made of barley, preferably winter barly and hops, preferably from Aalst and of course, water and yeast.  The reason he gave for it being so healthy is because it is a very simple recipe and so you have to have good ingredients with a simple recipe as there is no way to hide bad quality grain or hops.  Hence, Doctor’s Orders is a healthy clear, brownish yellow Belgian brew with a fresh, slightly sweet taste, followed by an agreeable bitterness.
